MCNW Southern Washington Small Business Outreach Coordinator

Mercy Corps Northwest (MCNW) - Southern Washington, located in Vancouver, Washington, supports low-income entrepreneurs by empowering them through financial resources such as microloans and grants, and educational resources in order to meet their needs and empower them to be financially resilient. While our office is in an urban area, the community we serve includes current or aspiring small business owners in urban, suburban, and rural locations of Southern Washington. The VISTA will continue to assist in expanding our reach to include some of the most underserved communities. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. However, the MCNW VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by continuing to expand our network of clients and partners through community outreach and a monthly newsletter, improve data tracking tools and support administration, support the coordination of client trainings, and strengthen sustainability through grant-writing and data tracking. As an MCNW VISTA, you will be part of a larger cohort of AmeriCorps VISTAs coordinated by Mercy Corps Northwest. Early applications are strongly encouraged. Selections are made on a rolling basis. We are looking for someone with a passion for supporting low-income entrepreneurs, excellent writing skills, and administration experience to be part of the MCNW team in Southern Washington.

Member Duties : As a VISTA at Mercy Corps Northwest, you will increase the capacity of MCNW Southern Washington programs through microenterprise and asset development. Major functions will include continuing to grow a network of partners to holistically serve low-income entrepreneurs, coordinating training to best meet the needs of aspiring business owners, and strengthening program sustainability and expansion by grant-writing. VISTAs serve their communities through indirect service. While the programs you will develop will endure for years you will have limited interaction with clients and be based in an office setting. Applicant should hold a four-year degree, or four years of relevant work experience, or a combination. The applicant should excel in communication, writing, and marketing and have experience navigating social media, developing tracking tools, and using Microsoft Office. Applicants fluent in a second language, especially Spanish, are preferred.
