Community Investment Trust Outreach Coordinator - MCNW

Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Mercy Corps is a leading global organization powered by the belief that a better world is possible. In disaster, in hardship, in more than 40 countries around the world, we partner to put bold solutions into action — helping people triumph over adversity and build stronger communities from within. Beyond our international work, Mercy Corps also helps create secure, just, and productive communities in the Pacific Northwest through innovative projects that expand economic opportunity. This VISTA project will focus on supporting Mercy Corps’ Community Investment Trust, a project that unites neighborhood-based family asset development and community development through the purchase of commercial office space and sale of its equity to some 300-500 neighborhood investors, who we target to be ethnically diverse, lower-income, low-asset renters. AmeriCorps VISTA Members perform mainly indirect services; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of their time in an office setting, assisting in the development and implementation of the CIT marketing strategy. The CIT VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by continuing to expand the CIT’s financial inclusion model that helps low-income community members build assets and financial stability by investing in their own community. With a property thriving and owned by a Community Investment Trust on 122nd and SE Market in East Portland, the project is nearing its completion stage and we are looking to help other organizations across the region replicate the model. The VISTA member will support community outreach, training, and model replication in the Pacific Northwest area. As a CIT VISTA, you will be part of a larger AmeriCorps VISTA cohort coordinated by Mercy Corps. Early applications are strongly encouraged. Selections are made on a rolling basis.
