Black Archives Digitization Specialist AmeriCorps VISTA
The Black Archives of Mid-America exists to collect, preserve and make available to the public materials documenting the social, economic, political and cultural histories of persons of African descent in the Central United States, with an emphasis on the Kansas City, Missouri, region. The Black Archives combats information poverty by providing accessible information about Black communities in an area with limited virtual and in-person resources about local history and culture. The VISTA member will organize, catalogue, and digitize documents and artifacts in the collection to build the capacity to make collections accessible online and in person for our communities.
