Community Engagement Specialist, CRCD

The Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) was founded in 2005 in the Vernon Central Neighborhood of South Los Angeles by residents and community leaders to revitalize the area after decades of disinvestment and improve quality of life. CRCD serves 100% low to moderate income residents with a special focus on supporting individuals and families with involvement with the homeless services, justice and child welfare systems. CRCD employs a holistic community economic development, providing innovative support and intervention models in the areas of K-14 education, workforce development, business development, social enterprise, homeless services and affordable and permanent housing development. Building on our track record of “changing lives and building neighborhoods responsibly,” CRCD is conducting an 18-month research and planning effort to formulate a regional, collaborative economic development initiative to address longstanding racial and socioeconomic inequities in South Los Angeles. This multi-year, anti-poverty initiative will strengthen South Los Angeles economic recovery from COVID-19 while positioning residents and businesses to benefit economically from on-going economic development in South Los Angeles and adjacent areas as week as major sporting events coming to Los Angeles such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup (if Los Angeles is finalized as host city) and the 2028 Summer Olympics.
