AC/Maine Conservation Corps Team Leader (Trails)
 
 
 
Team Leaders are an integral part of the Maine Conservation Corps (MCC) mission to accomplish conservation projects that inspire people and enhance communities. As a Team Leader, you will expand outdoor recreational opportunities to Maine’s woods, waters, and mountains, while protecting these precious natural resources. Additionally, you will receive professional skill development and certifications, team-based service learning, the opportunity to live and serve in unique locations, a living allowance, an education award, and more! Member Duties : The initial weeks of service will include training on essential hard and soft skills of field team leadership. Members will complete conservation projects as part of a team of fellow leaders. The following topics will be covered: Chainsaw training, sustainable trail building, camp life, diversity and inclusivity training, project management, volunteer management, mental health education, Leave No Trace, job readiness training, and other technical topics related to your assigned projects. Upon demonstration of essential competencies, Team Leaders will assume the roles and responsibilities of leading a team of AmeriCorps members on various outdoor conservation projects (June - October). This role provides direct leadership, mentorship, and training to the team during the field season. MCC Team Leaders perform many roles and are the key to our program’s success. The position is multi-faceted and demanding but has the opportunity for enormous rewards.
