AmeriCorps Branches

Branches is one of the most unique after school programs because we not only help our children and youth become better students, but we also help them become better people. Yes, making sure our kids are reading at grade level and improving their grades is a major focus of what we do. However, we’ve also cultivated programs that are loving, supportive, and uplifting. Our members serve side by side with our staff and volunteers in our child and youth programs. Members serve in our North Miami, South Miami, and Florida City locations where they engage children, youth, and families of low income communities through our Grow and Climb programs. The Grow program serves elementary students preparing them for lifelong success through the enrichment of their minds, bodies, and hearts. Our engagement with the students begins after school with tutoring, homework help, and enrichment activities. Members also assist in the areas of: mentoring, leading enrichment activities (e.g. physical education, art, music, drama, etc.), and adding their own unique skills to extracurricular activities. The Climb program serves middle and high school students focusing on helping them to become better students and community members. AmeriCorps members serving in this program serve by: mentoring, providing academic tutoring, leading life skills workshops, participating in service projects and retreats, serving as a guide for college discovery, and contributing their own unique skills to extracurricular activities. AmeriCorps members serving in both programs also help lead a 6 week camp, called "Summer Shade" during the summer months. The purpose of Summer Shade is to help prevent learning loss and provide a safe and fun environment. We LOVE our students and families! They know that when they come to Branches they are unconditionally loved and highly-regarded for the unique individuals that they are. You will learn, and be challenged in ways you have never been before. APPLY NOW!
