City of Lancaster, Human Resources - Interns/Sumer Program.
 
 
 
The Internships & Summer Employment project will focus on expanding and formalizing the summer employment program for high school and college students and creating an internship program to encourage City residents to pursue employment in local government. #1 Objective of the Assignment. Build a community engagement structure with partners including but not limited to, the School District of Lancaster, Intermediate Unit 13, Lancaster County Career and Technology Center, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology along with various local colleges and universities. #2 Objective of the Assignment. Review current data on the summer program, i.e.,number of participants by residence, race, gender,etc.to ascertain how equitable the program has been implemented for the city residents. #3 Objective of the Assignment March. Create a framework for internships and summer employment that provide pathways to employment for traditionally underrepresented students and adults.

Member Duties : 1. Explore each local partner’s website to identify the contact person. 2. Create a contact list for partners. 3. Work with local partners to collect data on the student population, employment/intern programs currently available and participation rates. 4. Create a data collection structure that helps track equity data for the City’s summer program. 5. Create a data collection structure that helps track equity data for the City’s intern participation. 6. Identify trends and make recommendations to improve equitable access. 7.Create a dashboard that reflects participation rates for underrepresented groups. 8. Develop a survey tool to measure satisfaction rates for participants and supervisors. 9. Develop an onboarding program and supervisor training to enhance the student/intern experiences.
