#1 Objective Strategic Priority: Strong Neighborhoods Promote civic spirit in support of public safety. Develop and implement a citywide program that allows Lancaster City to operate more effectively and to improve the level of safety throughout the city. Member Activities: 1. Identify new community members and local stakeholders who can build capacity and serve as volunteers for community lead fire safety initiatives. 2. Build capacity in the city and community by conducting new outreach techniques. 3. Partner with stakeholders that will contribute to the overall program by providing resources. 4. Conduct a needs assessment to identify ways in which to expand community outreach in fire prevention. 5. Coordinate planning sessions with neighborhood groups. #2 Objective Strategic Priority: Strong Neighborhoods Research, develop, and implement a Community Risk Reduction (CRR) program to identify and prioritize of risks, threats and hazards followed by the introduction and evaluation of strategies to lessen their impact. Member Activities: 1. Confirm community problems through data. 2. Develop talking points, fact sheets, and various media tools (hard copy and electronic) to communicate the goals, structure, timeline, and accomplishments of the program. 3. Coordinate efforts with city staff to assist in building a unique approach to community support. 4. CRR is more than smoke alarms. Research and data collection should identify and respond to other risks and other prevention measures as well. The CRR program should provide the use of this data to guide LCBF to the most pressing needs and apply the resources appropriately. 5. Gather support for an effective CRR from input, participation, and support from city leaders, and leaders within our community. Success is measured through a 6-step process identify risk/problem, prioritize risk/problem, develop strategies, create plan, implement plan, and evaluate and modify.
