Kalihi Valley Instructional Bike Exchange Youth Worker VISTA
 
 
 
The Kalihi Valley Instructional Bike Exchange is catered towards low-income children and youth ages 5-18, fostering safe spaces and mentorship. They include hands-on education on bicycle mechanics, urban gardening, life mentoring and civic engagement. The program teaches healthy living, cultivates stable relationships, enhances resilience, success in school and the workforce, and fosters long-term goals.

Member Duties : The VISTA will help support KVIBE’s various activities that combat poverty by promoting education in health, culture, and the land. The VISTA will assist with: (1) updating and revising educational curriculum covering bike mechanics, bike riding safety, mental health, and other forms of health (2) developing internal communications for KVIBE’s annual Kalihi Ahupuaa Bike Ride (3) creating a new reporting system for KVIBE participant and volunteer data required for various grants. The VISTA is expected to spend the first 3 months of service familiarizing themselves with KVIBE, KKV’s youth services, and KKV’s other programs to understand the greater health framework of the organization.
