Programs Assistant

City Slicker Farms increases wellness and builds community through equitable access to healthy food, thriving gardens, and urban green spaces. Based in West Oakland, we partner with low and fixed income communities, communities of color, youth, and elders throughout Alameda County to create a more just and equitable food system. The Programs Assistant will support our current programs and also help research and develop our youth programming. This person will help identify and support volunteer engagement in our Backyard Garden and Farm to Fridge programs, including recruitment, management and documentation. The Programs Assistant will also meet regularly with our Community Council to get feedback on CSF programming and help increase community engagement in our programs. This role will work with staff to review our previous youth programming along with best practices in the fields of food justice education, environmental justice education, youth development, and workforce development to make recommendations for current field trip curriculum and future youth programming. They will research, identify and apply to relevant funding opportunities and help connect CSF with funders and officials to support long-term program sustainability.
