YouthBuild Leadership Development & Alumni VISTA- Denver, CO

Mile High Youth Corps’ YouthBuild Program is based on a 43-year national model and serves young adults, ages 18-24, disconnected from school or work. The YouthBuild program provides on-the-job training while meeting increasing demands for a highly-trained workforce in construction and healthcare. Earning a bi-weekly stipend and an AmeriCorps education award, young people from all economic backgrounds can afford to serve their community and invest in their own personal growth. YouthBuild Corpsmembers engage in intensive training divided between the service site building affordable housing or practicing patient care skills, and the classroom earning a GED or High School Equivalency diploma, engaging in leadership development, civic engagement, and college and career readiness activities.

Member Duties : Mile High Youth Corps’s YouthBuild VISTA will focus on two primary areas: First, to create strategies to enhance recruitment. Second, to develop an alumni success program to support alumni in their follow-up year. Over a period of a year, we anticipate this work will result in attracting more Corpsmembers who will complete the program and successfully gain and maintain employment. All work will be completed through MHYC’s diversity, equity, and inclusion lens. The main projects for this VISTA position include developing recruitment tools and strategies, including identifying new recruitment partners, creating recruitment materials, developing an updated social media strategy, and designing interactive recruitment sessions. Alumni engagement projects include identifying best practices in alumni engagement from YouthBuild programs, developing curriculum for workshops, and developing an evaluation process to determine the effectiveness of the programming.
