You will assist to research strategic installation of free broadband access in low-income neighborhoods and facilitate communications between the involved City Departments, low-income tenants, and property owners on which the network devices will be installed. You will also work closely with staff members in Economic Development and the IT department to develop a strategic broadband plan that will guide expansion to be anti-poverty centered during stages of the process, including rollout and deployment of funds toward broadband infrastructure and access to high-speed internet for low-income residents throughout the City.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will develop a strategic broadband plan that will guide expansion of Wifi in the city with an antipoverty focus. Research will look specifically on broadband deployment in southside Santa Fe, an area with a high vulnerability index, greatly affected by the pandemic. This research will assist with the free wi-fi at mobile home parks and apartment buildings efforts. The member will also act as a coordinator between economic development, IT, broadband vendors and real estate managers/proprietors. VISTAs would be responsible for documenting key milestones and providing research on effective low-income broadband strategy.
