American Red Cross West Virginia SAF VISTA
 
 
 
The American Red Cross' Congressionally Chartered mission is, in part, to "provide family communications and other forms of support to the US Military." Using this as a basis for a broad range of activities, the AmeriCorps VISTA members will serve directly with the Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) Manager to enhance our support to regional VA Hospitals and grow our Veterans Service Officer (VSO) program. The goal of this is to offer increased assistance to veterans who are in need of military benefits. Through the Red Cross' mission of providing support to the four VA Medical Centers in the Region through the Veteran Administration Volunteer Services (VAVS), the SAF VISTA member will act as a volunteer coordinator by recruiting, onboarding, engaging, and managing the development of volunteers.

Member Duties : -Recruit and onboard new Red Cross SAF Volunteers. -Engage and manage current SAF Volunteers. -Support SAF Volunteers in their work with VA Hospitals, including through the VAVS and VSO programs. -Establish and maintain external partnerships, including at VA Hospitals. -Support the SAF Manager with SAF duties as requested.
