Opportunity Council - Growing Veterans Community Coordinator

Growing Veterans empowers military veterans to find purpose and belonging by growing food, community, and each other. Our two farm sites in Lynden and Greenbank offer veterans a chance to get their hands dirty and share in a common purpose of growing food for local communities. We grow food, literally, at our two farm sites, and all produce grown is donated to local food banks. We grow community through our partnerships, community collaborations, and bringing together veterans and their allies to work together in the fields. We grow each other through our accredited Peer Support Training program that is peer reviewed, research backed, and accredited through the Washington Mental Health Counselors Association (WMHCA). This Dirt Therapy approach heals the mental wounds of our military veterans through a culture of Peer Support. As a non-profit, our team is small and we look for ways to increase the capacity and efficiency of our organization to better serve our communities. We are looking for a VISTA to help with program support to allow us to serve a larger number of veterans and food-insecure families.
