Engage community members around family planning and birth spacing. Develop an implementation plan for same-day contraceptive services, a patient-centered best practice that provides a contraceptive method on the same day a patient is counseled and decides which method they would like. Coordinate with the front desk, clinic staff, and patients about the needs of scheduling same-day contraceptive services. Work with local community organizations to engage constituents in attending meetings and ultimately schedule an appointment. Create healthy futures for women and their planned pregnancies. Speak comfortably about women’s reproductive healthcare and related issues. Use social media and other communication techniques to be able to reach out to the community about contraception availability and counseling at the clinic.

Member Duties : The VISTA will meet with PHC Medical Director and Women’s Services Chair to create a work plan to begin outreach into the community. They will meet with Clinic staff to determine where the most need and the greatest access to services is. S/he will develop a program management system to track and evaluate the program and make changes and needed throughout the program. They will create a social media platform and arrange for speakers on this platform. Meet with collaborating agencies to come up with weekly meeting ideas. They will research and create a social media platform for weekly presentations by clinic women’s health physicians on different contraceptive choices and services available in the community.
