Ben D Johnson Endowment-Grants Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
Located in northwest, Louisiana, the mission of the Ben D. Johnson Educational (BDJ) Center is “to build community in Natchitoches and give access to social and economic success for all of its residents.” The center fosters social equity, encourages healthier living, environmental responsibility and facilitates economic growth and development in the community through its various programs and initiatives. Currently, the center offers the Legacy Workforce Development Program and associated social enterprise business, Legacy Café, Legacy Corner Store and the BDJ Garden. Our program serves young people by providing work and life skills training with referrals and connections to resources to overcome their barriers to employment. There is significant need for this type of support in our community as 19% of 17-24 year old’s in Natchitoches Parish are out of work and not in school. Member Duties : Research a variety of grant opportunities and individual donors. Present a minimum of 24 grant opportunities to the Executive Director. Create a database of grantors, foundations, and philanthropic organizations which fit the BDJ Center’s mission and goals. Develop a process that tracks grant deadlines and due dates and provides alerts when due. Draft at least 2 grant proposals or sponsorship requests for review by Executive Director.
