Parent Partners help families learn how to seek out and receive appropriate community support services through evidence-based case management. Youth Champions provide services to teens to help develop identified goals and build skills for future growth, wellbeing, and success through targeted evidence-based programs, activities, and case management. Knowledge, understanding or willingness to learn of the values, beliefs, and practices of cultural groups within diverse communities. Advocate for the community and act as guide for the families served. Assure services planned and service deliveries are accessible and equitable to meet the families where they are. Conduct regularly scheduled home visits with families on individual caseloads to provide designated parenting curriculum and aid with linkage to local resources. Conduct screenings and assessments with families Help families and youth find hope and healing using evidence-based practices such as Triple P, SafeCare, Hope Theory and the Five Protective Factors. Model a nurturing behavior and attitude in all contact. Advocate for and act as liaison for families with existing community services and agencies. Ideal candidate will possess a BA/BS degree or an AA/AS degree with 2 years’ experience with case management OR 4 years’ experience case management in a health or social service field. A very well qualified applicant will have both the educational and professional experience, along with some personal experience with the risk factors that Parent Partner clients are facing. Occasional evening and weekend work. Applicant must possess the ability to operate e-mail and word processing software. Bilingual (Spanish/ English) is desirable. Proof of reliable transportation and full coverage auto insurance are required. Mileage reimbursement provided at the current IRS rate. Must be willing to complete National Sex Offenders Public Website (NSOPW), FBI & DOJ Criminal Background Check.

Member Duties : An AmeriCorps Parent Partner/Youth Champion serves at risk youth, pregnant women, teens & families with children ages 0-18 in Shasta County. Parent Partner/Youth Champion provides individual support and education. Families/Youth may be facing challenges such as child abuse and neglect, family violence, have current or past drug and alcohol abuse and/or mental illness. Parent Partners help families learn how to seek out and receive appropriate community support services through evidence-based case management. Youth Champions provide services to teens to help develop identified goals and build skills for future growth, wellbeing, and success through targeted evidence-based programs, activities, and case management. Extensive training provided.
