In May 2005, a group of concerned individuals formed a committee and decided to open a health center that would benefit the medically uninsured or our county. Less than a year later, on March 13, 2006, we opened our doors to those from our county who were struggling without health care or any medical insurance. Within a short time we also joined the Ohio Association of Free Clinics to assist us in serving our clientele. We are a 501c3 organization providing health care services to medically uninsured individuals, supported financially through private donations, gifts and grants. The Ohio Valley Health Center is pleased to offer high quality health care services, including: - Primary Care Services - In-house Lab Testing - Basic Physicals - Chronic Care, e.g., High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Cholesterol, etc. - Acute Care, e.g., colds, earaches, stitches removed, etc. - Prescription Assistance Program for free medications from pharmaceutical companies - Behavioral Health / Counseling Referrals - Dental and Vision Services provided through Referral Program - Referral Resources for Outside Testing and Specialty Care - Wound Care (Minor Procedures) - Uninsured or Underinsured

Member Duties : As the Ohio Valley Health Center VISTA member, you will build the capacity and reach of Food as Medicine programming. Conducting focus groups with healthcare providers and patients, you will identify and confront barriers to healthy food access. Utilizing knowledge and data gained through surveys, you will establish and expand new community partnerships and food delivery models. To maximize program effectiveness, you will execute strategic data analysis, implementing informed interventions. Finally, in the interest of increasing public participation in programs and successfully onboarding new program partners, you will develop appropriate communication and education materials.
