Community Employability Coordinator
 
 
 
Columbus Area United Way is looking to develop systems for adults to improve job relevant skills. Overall, the goal is to increase financial stability which in turn improves workplace productivity, retention, and advancement and promote long term sustainability for our community. Columbus Area United Way is located in Columbus, Nebraska serving surrounding counties to provide services in Education, Financial Stability and Health. The role of the Community Employability Coordinator will be to identify barriers that employees experience to improve their job relevant skills. In partnership with industry leaders the Coordinator will focus on solutions to job retention, decreased absenteeism, increase productivity and create financial security. The role will be capacity building in nature to develop an strategic plan to be implemented within the local community. Through shared resources, diversity and inclusion training, employers can minimize employment barriers for low-to-moderate wage workers and maximize the supports employees need to be successful and improve their lives. Through systematic changes and development of collaborative infrastructure individuals and families in the community will be able to endure hardship and disasters as they arise. Responsibilities and Duties: • Investigate and identify existing resources that focus on improving employment opportunities and skill development. • Identify barriers for increased employability among “working poor” • Develop partnership with community leaders including industry representatives to provide Community Employability Coordinator connection to their employees. • Create pathway for unemployed to assess employment through training and resource. • Provide training including but not limited to: Generational Poverty, Equity, Inclusion and Diversity, Workplace Stability • Create curriculum and logic model matrix to provide growth and measurements for Coordinator objectives.
