Disability Services VISTA Member

Make a positive impact in the lives of Texans with disabilities and older Texans! Join the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (TXHHSC) Office of Disability Services Coordination (ODSC) office in Austin. As a Disability Services VISTA Member, you will be a part of a team of innovative professionals who work to improve disability services and programs throughout TXHHSC. The selected Member will assist with implementing statewide projects, building resources and connection points, and creating awareness campaigns that works towards long-term, systemic improvement of service delivery and communication for people with disabilities. The selected Member will gain experience in disability services, aging services, public health, partnership building, research, and will have the opportunity to gain professional experience while working in a state government setting. Relocation to Austin, Texas or the Central Texas Corridor is required as the position is hybrid.

Member Duties : The Disability Services VISTA Member will support the initiatives, projects, and campaigns of the Office of Disability Services Coordination. Responsibilities include: • Researching, presenting, and creating innovative strategies to recruit and train formal caregivers; • Creating outreach materials, resources, and campaigns to increase awareness of programs and services; and • Providing capacity building services to other ODSC initiatives as needed.
