Aging Services Coordination VISTA Member
 
 
 
Make a positive impact in the lives of older Texans! Join the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (TXHHSC) Aging Services Coordination (ASC) office in Austin. As an ASC VISTA Member, you will be a part of a team of innovative professionals who work to enhance aging services and programs throughout TXHHSC. The selected Member will work on statewide awareness campaigns, resources and projects that educate and motivate individuals, organizations and community leadership to take a proactive approach to aging. Member projects fall under the three core elements of the Age Well Live Well campaign - Be Healthy, Be Connected and Be Informed. The selected Member will gain experience in aging services, public health, evidence-based interventions, partnership building, community engagement and will have the opportunity to gain professional experience while working in a state government setting.

Member Duties : The ASC VISTA Member will support the campaigns and programs of the Aging Services Coordination office. Responsibilities include: • Developing a system of outreach to underserved older adults across Texas; • Supporting the Know Your Neighbor campaign; • Creating materials and resources for the AWLW campaign and ATW initiative; and • Providing capacity building services to other ASC programs including Texas Talks. The successful candidate will have an interest in older adults; experience working in an office environment; the ability to work on multiple projects at once; a collaborative spirit; practice creating resources for the public; and an understanding of Microsoft products (e.g., Outlook, excel, word, PowerPoint and Teams). The Member will work three days a week in the Austin Texas office and two days a week from home making a residence in Austin or a surrounding community required.
