Over the past 10 years, Second Harvest has tripled distribution of food and grocery products to our network of partner charities. Many children, senior citizens, veterans, and families living on fixed incomes are trying to make ends meet in an economy that is struggling to recover. Second Harvest Food Bank continues to support and strengthen our partnerships and programming in order to address the issue of hunger in our service region. We look for innovative ideas to ensure those at risk have access to nutritious food. Second Harvest continues to be an exemplary steward of the resources entrusted to us serves our region with compassion and integrity.

Member Duties : As the AmeriCorps VISTA Member, you will increase the impact of Second Harvest by focusing on the initiatives of Food Forward Lorain—a food policy council in partnership with Lorain County Public Health. Food Forward Lorain seeks to improve Lorain's food system by focusing on three main areas: urban farm & retail expansion, healthcare partnerships & diabetes prevention, and technology & transportation networks. Partnering with the Second Harvest team, you will expand and strengthen the Unite Ohio referral network within our service area; establish new networks for local urban farm produce; implement a Produce Prescription pilot project; and expand our direct delivery service.
