Tucson Festival of Books UACE
 
 
 
This role supports the Tucson Festival of Books (TFOB) by organizing and implementing programs, fostering community ties, and advancing literacy through outreach and engagement initiatives. Responsibilities will extend to assisting in the preparing and execution of all event-related tasks, ensuring smooth operations and impactful results. This includes collaborating with various committees, liaising with schools and community groups, and facilitating outreach activities that enhance the festival's visibility and its goals of improving literacy. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to address concerns professionally, and help resolve issues that arise with the public, volunteers, or community members; good communication skills; public speaking: teamwork: strong organizational and follow-through skills to support event planning, outreach activities, and day-to-day program needs; community outreach: excited to work with the public, engage with diverse groups, and contribute to the success of the TFOB; volunteerism: understand the role of volunteers and their impact on program success; writing/editing: effectively navigate standard technologies (Microsoft Office, Google Suites);non-profit management; some familiarity with either the Tucson Festival of Books and/or the University of Arizona.

Member Duties : Participation in and assist with the coordination of programs associated with the Tucson Festival of Books which could include: Festival Preview “Chapter One” – Sun – Nov 2026; Marketing Packets – Sat – Jan 2027; Outreach at Bookman’s – March 6th & 7th 2027; Tucson Festival of Books – Sat & Sun, March 13th & 14th 2027. Serve as an ambassador for the Tucson Festival of Books and participate in community outreach activities and address the need for improving reading literacy, especially among young people. Answer general questions from the community about the TFOB. Work with all our volunteer committees on outreach to community groups, schools, and other targeted groups. This would include school visits, networking, and attending committee meetings. Assist in creating education materials related to literacy and positive youth development. Assist with program evaluation after the Festival. Part-time positions
