Position Title and Information: Three Quarter Time AmeriCorps Member 1200 Hours to be completed before August 31, 2022 Stipend= $500 bi-weekly Education Award= $4,336 Reports To: Immediate Site Supervisor: Nicole Johnson Phone Number: 531-466-3296 Email: Nicole.johnson@icrius.org Service Site: Primary Service Site: International Council for Refugees and Immigrants, Omaha, Nebraska Secondary Service Site: Community Apartment complexes, Community centers, Teleservices as needed. The Bridge to Prosperity: Refugee Youth Education program recognizes the unique barriers that refugee youth face as they acculturate to life in the United States especially as it relates to education and economic opportunity- two focus areas of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). The Program will include six, three-quarter time Members and be overseen by the ICRI AmeriCorps Site Supervisor and the ICRI Program Director. Position Summary: Members will provide academic support to refugee youth ages 9-18 with an emphasis on STEM. Members will be responsible for conducting intake assessments with youth and parents, providing tutoring support to youth, assisting parents in obtaining student records, keep parents updated on their child’s progress or lack thereof. Member Duties : Each Member is assigned a caseload of approximately 15 students who they meet with in small groups 3-4 times weekly after school until their service term is complete or until the youth no longer need the support (whichever comes first). Members are required to participate in pre-service and on-going training sessions throughout their year of service (i.e., one-week pre-service training and other mentorship or AmeriCorps trainings).
