2023 Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center- Community Engagement

Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center (LTYC) supports youths, ages 5-18, in the state of Maryland and DC with arts programs that empower them to excel in the arts, academics, and social development. By providing opportunities and resources that otherwise would not be available, LTYC programs build higher self-esteem and self-worth in young people who are yearning for success. LTYC offers arts instruction that stimulates innate talents, reinforces academic goals, sparks creativity and meets learning outcomes. We deploy arts educators and practitioners into schools and communities who, alongside teaching staff, directly engage students in creative experiences to connect skills and concepts in the arts with skills and concepts in core content areas like math, reading social studies and science. Our programs focus on the acquisition of knowledge, technique and skills in the arts, thereby building students’ capacity for lifelong participation in the arts, which helps students develop cognitive, academic, emotional and physical competencies needed to succeed in life. Instructional strategies include standards-based arts education for students with innovative practices in arts learning that results in increasing specific learning and behavior outcomes. Since our inception in 2004, LTYC has continuously expanded its programming, geographic outreach, and calendar, building more and stronger relationships among students, families, and the community. In the past three years, LTYC has served over 30,000 students from 146 school and organization partners providing 70,908 hours of arts enrichment and engagement (from our ’18-’20 Impact Report).
