TSC EOC 2021: University at Buffalo, Wellness Coach

Through placement at essential Western New York nonprofits, AmeriCorps Economic Opportunity Corps (EOC) members serve to improve community members’ financial resiliency, stability, and wellness. As WNY begins our economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, your service, in areas such as housing security and affordability, free legal services, access to supportive services and benefits, college readiness, and health equity, will provide vital aid in helping our region build back better. Members join EOC from all backgrounds, and the most important characteristic our members have is a passion for assisting others as we work together towards the main AmeriCorps mission of eliminating poverty. In service with EOC, you will be making a lifelong impact in peoples’ lives for decades and generations to come. National service has never been more vital to our local community, so please apply today!

Member Duties : The mission of University at Buffalo’s Health Promotion Office is to advance the health of students and contribute to the creation of an institutional and community climate of health and social justice. The Wellness Coaching Program was developed in 2019 to help students define specific goals related to their overall health and wellness, and to identify and implement actionable steps to achieve those goals. The EOC member will join the Wellness Coaching team for the 2021-22 academic year to develop and provide financial resources, one-on-one financial wellness coaching, workshops on basic financial management skills, financial literacy outreach tables, and a marketing campaign to reduce stigma and encourage students with financial challenges to seek assistance. At the end of the Spring 2022 Semester, the member will train the existing Wellness Coaches and Program Coordinator to maintain this program for years to come.
