2021-2022 OIPCC Development and Social Media VISTA (IAFCC)
Old Irving Park Community Clinic serves low-income adults over 18 years of age who are uninsured and underinsured. Due to the pandemic and an uptick in people seeking medical services, the VISTA is a key component to helping Clinic sustain services by assisting the executive director. The VISTA will enhance, refine, and maintain systems that increases the capacity of the Clinic. Focus is on database management, social media, staff training, community outreach, and a special event. The VISTA will learn about the importance of free and charitable clinics, access to free medical care, fundraising, database management, and the demographics of the Clinic’s patients.

Member Duties : During training VISTA will learn about the patient population, patient cultural needs, patient demographics, Clinic practice model and operation, and the impact of the Clinic on community it serves. They will become familiar with previous VISTA’s work on Salesforce, Canva, Facebook, Instagram, MailChimp and the web site. S/he will train staff on key strategies for building capacity through improved community outreach. Evaluate strategies that have worked and what should be discarded. Possibly accompany leadership to churches and civic organizations to educate the community about the importance of a free health clinic. They can learn about the Clinic’s electronic medical records system, The VISTA will refine efforts that were initiated by the previous VISTAs to assist with the fundraising goals of the special event that has been virtual the past two years but may be in person. With the opportunity to create a project that they are interested.
