UG: Community & Organizational Outreach Analyst
 
 
 
Join the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas AmeriCorps VISTA Program. The Unified Government (UG) has made a commitment to civic innovation, job creation, economic development, and the health of Wyandotte County residents - and our members are contributing in big ways! Priority Based Budgeting is a collaborative approach tothe budgeting process focusing on aligning the government's budget with strategic goals. In this process, a multi-year action plan is developed that realigns budget expenditures so that they are being used more efficiently to advance the strategic plan. Along with this the UG Budget Office is in the beginning stages of a Public Engagement campaign to educate and generate additional feedback about the budget for the UG and opportunities for the public to have a voice in the overall budget process. These projects will assist in reducing poverty in and increasing the economic vitality and community health of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS

Member Duties : The VISTA will work in our Budget Office to help with the implementation of the PriorityBased Budgeting system. The VISTA will support the Budget Office’s efforts to develop this multi-year action plan and coordinating a plan for engaging the community and elected officials around the plan. Engaging the community around the priority-based budget and educating them about the impact it will have is an enormous undertaking, and VISTA support will make that possible. The VISTA will help departments and the organization be more efficient and intentional with their resources to allow more resources to go to the needs of the community. Enhance the coordination and shared vision of the strategic goals of the organization in terms of budgeting and coordination across the Unified Government in meeting our goals.
