Boston Workforce Development - Outreach & Recruitment VISTA
 
 
 
The Outreach & Recruitment VISTA’s tasks will include: - Understanding OWD’s current outreach methods and researching best practices for recruitment in the workforce development and college savings and college access. - Attending community events in settings such as schools, GED/HiSET programs, career centers, and community based organizations to present on the various initiatives; engaging target residents, answering questions and directing to appropriate next steps. - Identifying outreach opportunities and relationship building with potential partners, referral sources and community organizations. - Assisting with developing communications to potential participants with the goals of increasing enrollment and overall visibility of the initiatives. - Developing systems to coordinate outreach efforts across special projects that will target key audiences to maximize impact. - Recruitment of volunteers for further capacity building and engagement of initiatives.

Member Duties : The Outreach & Recruitment VISTA will support the Boston Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development’s (OWD’s) special projects to increase knowledge of, and enrollment into, the office’s programs and initiatives. Tasks will be focused on building relationships, educating target residents, and developing referral networks and communication strategies. This position will support Boston Saves, Tuition Free Community College (TFCC), and the City Academy programs. OWD’s VISTA project will have the primary objectives of: 1) Developing systems for improved evaluation and recruitment; 2) Leveraging resources and relationships in the community and with partnering City agencies; and 3) Increasing resident engagement in program planning. The ultimate outcome of these efforts will be to maximize the ability of Boston Saves, TFCC, and City Academy to positively impact community members’ economic and financial stability and increase upward mobility.
