Climate Service Projects Leader - VHCB
 
 
 
Build your leadership skills while supporting the creation of safe affordable housing opportunities, conservation of invaluable natural lands, and developing team service projects! You’ll have ample opportunity to learn about and gain extensive access to the housing and conservation network in Vermont while having a meaningful experience supporting your peers and serving with a one-of-a-kind organization. In this position, you’ll travel the state, design your own projects, guide a group of peers with a passion for service, and have the opportunity to take part in many diverse experiences - all while making a difference in the community. The primary goals of this position will be to 1) make the term of service both impactful and meaningful for all VHCB AmeriCorps members and create an environment in which they feel strongly connected to the Program; 2) build connections between the VHCB AmeriCorps Program/Vermont Climate Corps and the community; 3) coordinate and lead service projects focused on climate mitigation & resiliency 4) complete an extensive Independent Service Project. Position begins September 9, 2024 and ends August 8, 2025 This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 48 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $30,000 (pre-tax) for the service term. Member will receive an education award of $7,395 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Member Duties : • Develop and coordinate service projects with an emphasis on climate mitigation & resiliency for VHCB AmeriCorps team (includes MLK Day & Annual Spring Service Day). Lead 2 summer members for multi-day/weeks service projects with partnering organizations in summer 2025. • Provide direct service for climate mitigation and resiliency projects with partner organizations around the state. • Travel around the state to conduct one-on-one site visits with each VHCB AmeriCorps Member; gather feedback and updates from Members • Support VHCB AmeriCorps Members serving in the Program through their year of service. Identify member needs and connect them with training and resources; assist members with on-site projects; provide peer support and guidance. • Complete an extensive Independent Service Project (ISP), a self-designed direct-service community project focused on climate change, climate mitigation/resiliency as it relates to affordable housing and/or land conservation.
