Neighborhood Development Specialist
 
 
 
This VISTA position will work collaboratively with many community partners. The goal is to strengthen, develop, and empower neighborhood organizations. VISTA will work with neighbors and neighborhood-based groups. By working with community partners, we'll work to organize and identify assets for positive change. VISTA will work with the Executive Director and the Director of Marketing and Communications. Under their leadership, VISTA will engage the broader community, organizations and nonprofits.

Member Duties : 1. Community assessments and planning, neighborhood visioning, asset mapping, and meeting facilitation 2. Conducts community outreach to residents, neighborhood-based organizations. This includes any organization or nonprofit interested in promoting events and activities 3. Links residents and organizations to existing programs and services in the community 4. Establishes and maintains relationships with other agencies and organizations to meet community needs 5. Establishes and maintains relationships through frequent community resident interactions 6. Take an active role in assisting in the update of Cape Girardeau Community Plan 7. Identify and create a community development committee comprised of Cape Girardeau County residents 8. Conduct research advocating for neighborhood revitalization 9. Able to work with minimal supervision & complete required reporting
