24-25 Glacier Peak Inst. Outdoor Nature & Recreation Instr.

This is an AmeriCorps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. Glacier Peak Institute is located in Darrington where we experience the lowest median income in our county. We seek to empower rural youth to build resilient and sustainable communities. We do this through hands-on learning that combines STEAM with recreation and skill building (STrEaMs). By engaging nonprofits, STEM programs, and diverse communities, we break down cultural misconceptions and remove barriers. Our programs provide the experiences youth need to achieve their potential and improve our community. The member will lead education and outdoor programs that build bridges between communities. They will serve during the school day and as enrichment after school and during breaks. Applicants with experience working directly with school age children are preferred. Due to insurance requirements, members must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years old. We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews in early December. Reduced cost housing may be available in a shared residence.
