Join the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas AmeriCorps VISTA Program. The Unified Government (UG) has made a commitment to civic innovation, job creation, economic development, and the health of Wyandotte County residents - and our members are contributing in big ways! To facilitate the implementation of the Northeast Area Master Plan (NEAMP) and build the capacity of the Groundwork Northeast Revitalization Group (NRG), which is the designated Neighborhood Business and Revitalization Organization for the Historic Northeast neighborhood. The NEAMP is a plan to begin addressing the factors which contribute to the high poverty rate—40% of the population living below 100% of the federal poverty line—in Groundwork NRG’s service area. It contains 23 community-identified priorities which will be the first projects supported by Groundwork NRG, with 11 high-priority projects slated for completion by 2028.

Member Duties : Build a wider base of support for the NEAMP and increase community engagement with the ongoing implementation of the NEAMP priority projects. Create higher levels of engagement with Groundwork NRG’s community platforms, allowing the organization to reach a broader range of community stakeholders. Social media, newsletters, website & blog posts. Maintain a reliable flow of information about the NEAMP between Groundwork NRG, the Unified Government, and partner organizations; coordinate community meetings, quarterly reporting. Support the operation of the Groundwork NRG organization as it carries out its work in the Historic Northeast neighborhood: program and data collection, research new grant opportunities.
