Land Management Coordinator- VT Land Trust/VHCB

We will train you on the workings of land conservation projects from pre-conservation documentation to post conservation easement stewardship. You will be serving on many different types of projects and be introduced to a variety of land conservation and management partners throughout the state. This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. Service will be performed in a combination of traditional office setting and in a field setting. Office hours are typically M-F during daytime hours, but occasional evening meetings and weekend events may occur. Field setting will vary and include active agricultural settings, remote forest settings, uneven terrain and inclement weather. Position begins 9/09/24 & ends 8/08/25 This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 47 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $30,000 (pre-tax) and an education award of $7,395 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service.

Member Duties : •Invasive species management including conducting invasive plant & insect surveys, developing associated management plans, & coordination of invasive plant removal on public, non-profit, tribal or VLT lands. •Participation in Cooperative Invasive Species Management Associations (CISMA) •Monitoring of conservation easement lands in line w/ VLT’s current protocols •Assist VLT staff w/ Restoration Program initiatives such as deer exclosure construction & native plant surveys, creation of educational materials, & search related to focus areas. •Identify, cultivate and coordinate w/ prospective partner organizations for land management activities. •Participate in water quality improvement projects, including riparian buffer plantings. •Participate in VHCB AmeriCorps Events and Program Initiatives and an Independent Service Project.
