Environmental Educator- VT Audubon/VHCB
 
 
 
Spend your days outside, sharing the joys of the natural world with the community while serving at the National Audubon Society’s Vermont office! The Environmental Educator will help the team at Audubon Vermont lead programs for thousands of children and adults. Our member will grow their skills as a naturalist and teacher while they help us reach new and existing community members with engaging place- based programs at the Green Mountain Audubon Center and surrounding towns. Audubon Vermont and our supporters are building a better future for our state through conservation, youth leadership, education, community involvement, and by tapping into an active network that includes over 10,000 members, six Vermont chapters, including our newest UVM Campus Chapter, and many respected partners in communities throughout Vermont and along the Atlantic Flyway. This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 47 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $30,500 (pre-tax) for the service term. Member will receive an education award of $7,395 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Other benefits include health insurance, federal school loan forbearance, and various training and networking opportunities.

Member Duties : ·Teach environmental education programs for audiences of all ages including Forest Playschool; Forest Classroom; public programming: nature playgroup, family programs, monthly homeschool program, afterschool and camp. ·Teach outreach programs for adults and youth at their location ·Co-develop and teach summer environmental education youth day camps ·Create lesson plans for environmental education programs and school-break vacation camps. ·Collaborate with Audubon staff to achieve community-building strategic goals, including increased access to environmental education. ·Attend professional development opportunities focused on improving quality and reach of education programs and individual professional growth. • Participate in VHCB AmeriCorps events & initiatives Full position description at https://vhcb.org/vhcb-americorps/service-opportunities/
