Food Access and Community Outreach Coordinator: Buffalo, NY

Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) is a SNAP nutrition incentive program that allows SNAP users to receive a $1 for $1 match on eligible SNAP purchases for the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables. Currently, the DUFB program has grown to be in 38 counties and over 230+ farmers market, mobile market, grocery, small retail, and farm stand locations. VISTAs will implement outreach strategies, work to support our Community Ambassadors, and build internal capacity aimed at encouraging low-income individuals to take advantage of DUFB. Ensuring adequate understanding of the importance of nutrition incentive programs from the community and local partners will create a more robust program and help bring individuals out of poverty. This program allows for a diversity of professional development opportunities and the chance to connect with unique grassroots organizations across Erie County. Field & Fork Network's Produce Prescription program is a program focused on increasing access and affordability of fruits and vegetables to those with chronic health conditions. The VISTA will support efforts aimed at building and evaluating the program, as well as supporting outreach in the community through a variety of methods.
