Farm & Park Assistant
 
 
 
City Slicker Farms increases wellness and builds community through equitable access to healthy food, thriving gardens, and urban green space. Based in West Oakland for over 15 years, we partner with low and fixed income communities, communities of color, youth, and elders throughout the East Bay to create a more just and equitable food system. The Farm & Park Assistant will help increase our capacity by researching, identifying, and helping to implement improvements to the Farm and Park. This person will help maximize food production within our 1.4 acre space, streamline our harvesting process, and identify ways that we can better utilize our space and volunteers. This VISTA will work with staff to identify and implement innovative urban farming practices and help recruit and support volunteers . Duties will include research and implementation of Farm and Park infrastructure improvements, identifying improvements for volunteer engagement, and codifying our processes and procedures.

Member Duties : Duties will include research and implementation of Farm and Park infrastructure improvements, identifying improvements for volunteer engagement, and streamlining our processes and procedures.The AmeriCorps member will work with staff and learn how we currently run our Farm and suggest ways we can streamline and increase production and harvesting, better utilize volunteers, and increase our capacity. They will also help us improve our systems and processes in our community park space and recruit and manage program volunteers.
