Healthy Shelby County (Environment and Conservation) VISTA
 
 
 
The goal of the program is to increase knowledge and awareness of climate change, environmental, and conservation efforts within impoverished areas and beyond of Memphis and Shelby County, TN. To influence development of a sustainable environment, creating community gardens, and ultimately healthy living. Produce from the community gardens can be donated to food banks and local food pantries. With the support of VISTA resources, we aim to build an operational infrastructure. The VISTA will research best practices for municipally run environment and conservation program, events, and campaigns. They will design educational curriculum, resources, interactive programming, and marketing materials.

Member Duties : The VISTA will support Shelby County in developing a program with marketing strategies to engage Shelby County population in programs including discussions around climate change, environment, and conservation efforts. The VISTA will help to build capacity and program infrastructure to provide educational workshops and offer hands on opportunities for citizens to experience and learn about climate change, environment, and conservation.
