Trail & Community Engagement Coord- MALT/VHCB
 
 
 
Play a vital role in maintaining, improving, and expanding Middlebury Area Land Trust's (MALT) 30-mile trail system! Spend your days repairing trail tread, constructing bridges, installing signage, and leading volunteers in the important service that keeps our trail system accessible! You’ll also develop outreach materials to share MALT’s story with the public. MALT has developed an ambitious Vision 2040 to make "Addison county a model of sustainable land stewardship, where healthy natural and human communities thrive." The Trail & Community Engagement coordinator will help MALT make progress towards the 2040 objectives: 1) expanding multi-use trails, 2) help provide leadership toward Vermont's 30x30 and 50x50 conservation goals through expansion of conserved lands and ; 3) expand youth and adult environmental education programs. This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 47 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $30,500 (pre-tax) and an education award of $7,395 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service.

Member Duties : ·Maintain MALT’s 30-mile trail system: clearing debris, repairing trail tread, constructing and maintaining bridges, installing signage, improving drainage, and removing invasive species ·Plan and implement hands-on volunteers days in trail maintenance, land stewardship, and restoration projects. ·Create and share compelling content to raise awareness of MALT’s mission, promote events, and celebrate volunteer and community involvement. ·Collect data and maintain records related to trail conditions, trail work completed, volunteer hours, and community participation to assist MALT with prioritizing future projects and demonstrating impact. ·Collaborate with a wide range of community partners to expand participation in stewardship and trail-based programming. ·Represent MALT at outreach events • Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives. • Engage in professional and personal development activities and networking opportunities.
