Central Vermont Council on Aging (CVCOA) has an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about community engagement, direct service to others, and improving the lives of older Vermonters. This AmeriCorps Volunteer Outreach Member will reimagine and build partnerships with community members and organizations to create a local network of direct support services for older Vermonters who have been impacted by social isolation due to COVID-19. This individual will also recruit and engage volunteers and provide some short-term services to help people in their homes. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to transition to a new career or desire an enriching gap year experience. CVCOA Mission and Vision: To support Central Vermonters to age with dignity and choice in a world where aging is honored. This position involves both field and office service. Some weekend and evening service is require. Position begins Sept 8, 2021 and ends Aug 12, 2022. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 48 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $20,400 (pre-tax) and an education award of $6,345 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Member Duties : • Build community partnerships & capacity: serve w/ organizations to grow a network of local supports for older adults in the community • Participate in the continued maintenance of the volunteer data system to measure client need & outcomes • Engage volunteers: recruit, onboard, & support volunteers through outreach, including traditional & social media, presentations to community partners, & other public events. Volunteers are needed for on-going assistance as well as one-time activities • Provide in-home services: provide short-term (2-3 visits) assistance w/ household tasks, grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments & community engagements & friendly visits • Develop &strengthen skills in leadership/human services: by participating in trainings, teamwork, community service learning, supervision & meetings w/ CVCOA staff • Participate in VHCB AmeriCorps Events, & Program Initiatives
