Join the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas AmeriCorps VISTA Program. The Unified Government (UG) has made a commitment to civic innovation, job creation, economic development, and the health of Wyandotte County residents - and our members are contributing in big ways! With the passage of the American Rescue Plan there comes great opportunity and need for the Unified Government to ensure residents are aware of relief opportunities available. Wyandotte County, Kansas, has disproportionately been affected by COVID, especially residents of color and those living in poverty. The economic impacts of the pandemic have rippled through our community. With safety net organizations serving double to triple the number of individuals and families compared to pre-pandemic numbers. New initiatives were created to assist the growing number in need. This AmeriCorps VISTA project would leverage existing systems, like the new Community Health Workers program, and institute new programs and systems to ensure Wyandotte County residents are taking advantage of all the aid available to them during this trying time.

Member Duties : Prepare and execute public awareness campaigns for various programs, benefits, and opportunities available to Wyandotte County residents from the American Rescue Plan and any subsequent related federal, state, or local funding. Create a detailed public awareness and community outreach plan with benchmarks, activities, and outcomes to share with administration. Current ideas for public awareness and outreach include social media campaigns, published materials, videos, training session, town halls and community conversations, etc. Effectively implement the approved outreach plan and document benchmarks, activities, and outcomes. Design and produce content, materials and events needed to implement the approved outreach plan.
