Volunteer Program Associate VISTA
 
 
 
This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA’s Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. As a member, you will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty. Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington brings hope to life, especially for those most in need. The volunteer program serves volunteers who are helping alleviate poverty by serving with low-income elderly to support their stay in their homes, volunteering in the Food Bank, providing “sweat” equity for low-income families who are building their first home, and more. Volunteers serve a diverse population of clients. The VISTA Member will serve together with the Volunteer Manager to create an agency-wide orientation program, training programs, and appreciation events. They will implement new data collection systems, update volunteer files, and recruit new volunteers. This work will support the programs mentioned above in their work to alleviate poverty.

Member Duties : The VISTA Member will serve together with the Volunteer Manager to create an agency-wide orientation program by creating presentations and outlines and working with programs. They will also create training programs for departments that use volunteers. They will organize appreciation events for both service volunteers and general volunteers. They will implement new data collection systems, update volunteer files, and recruit new volunteers. This work will support the Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington’s programs in their work to alleviate poverty. The programs that they will work most frequently with, are St. Vincent Centers Food Bank, St. Vincent Centers Thrift Store, Catholic Housing Services, Early Learning, and Elder Services. They will participate in local activities in order to recruit volunteers. These activities could include tabling at local universities, attending recruiting events, and contacting local businesses and associations.
