Summit Pre-Collegiate Community Outreach Coordinator
 
 
 
The Community Outreach Coordinator VISTA will work with the Pre-Collegiate team to strengthen middle school program infrastructure including tutoring programming and community events, plan community events to raise money and awareness of program growth, and work with community volunteers to support student and program needs. The mission of Summit Pre-Collegiate is to assist and encourage first-generation students in their quest to graduate high school and continue with post-secondary education. The overarching goal is to create a college-going culture for our first-generation students, and all students, in Summit School District by helping to remove barriers that commonly deter students and families from attaining this achievement. Summit Pre-Collegiate is starting their ninth year in Summit School District and is currently working with over 150 Summit School District Students in grades 6-12. Summit Pre-Collegiate offers a variety of services for students including academic tutoring, community mentoring, peer mentoring, Padres Aprendiendo Juntos / Parents Learning Together, summer programs at Colorado Mountain College and the University of Colorado Boulder, college and career counseling, extension classes at SHS, study skills, career exploration, SAT test prep, and year long college and scholarship application assistance for seniors. The VISTA member with Summit Pre-Collegiate will gain experience with volunteer recruitment, marketing and communications, fundraising and fund development, and building out sustainable systems and programming for the organization to further impact the lives of students across Summit County, Colorado.

Member Duties : The Community Outreach Coordinator with plan and execute special projects for Summit Pre-Collegiate, including fundraising events, local financial giving campaigns, community volunteer days, volunteer recognition, and grant research/writing. The Community Outreach Coordinator will implement program outreach and awareness, such as volunteer recruitment and organization, sponsor communication, and social media updates. The Community Outreach Coordinator will work with the Middle School Coordinator to recruit tutors, promote after-school programming to parents and students, and maintain a consistent tutoring attendance database system to track progress.
