UGArden Grows It VISTA 2022

UGArden Grows It is an integrated farm-to-school program incorporating gardening, nutrition, and sustainability to improve the diet and health of P-12 children. Based at the University of Georgia's student-community farm, member activities include educational programing for children and university students, and training for school personnel. The focus is to support and maintain school gardens and related activities, to enhance access to fresh fruits and vegetables, to reduce food waste, and to enhance sustainability, both during the school day, after school, and during the summer. Priority will be given to individuals who are recent graduates, have gardening experience, have an academic interest and background in related issues, and have previous volunteer experience with school children. Ability to collaborate with diverse constituencies, work independently, travel (within Athens-Clarke County), and utilize social media is required.
