TSC VISTA 2021: First Shiloh Baptist Church
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of low-income communities. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in New York State and across the country. During their term of service members, will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA Leaders.

Member Duties : The vision of First Shiloh Baptist Church (FSBC) is to grow strong and healthy disciples of Jesus Christ through Stewardship - Responsibility, Excel through Service - Ministry, and Elevate the Society – Missions. FSBC currently provides affordable housing for more than 200 residents, prepares free tax returns for 1,000 low income residents, operates a senior citizens center serving 150 clients monthly, and an academic summer camp for 60 pre-k to 6th grade children. Our Food Pantry ministry provides more than 3500 meals per month for needy individuals. Current stewardship and ministry includes programs to address reducing poverty, closing the digital divide in senior populations, and addressing food security. The VISTA will work to develop enhanced systems to increase the effectiveness and efficiencies of these ministries and create personnel resources that reduce poverty and increase the church’s capacity for service.
