OHA North Central Public Health Promotion VISTA

This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. The position is in the North Central Public Health District (NCPHD), which serves citizens of Wasco, Sherman, and Gilliam Counties. We conduct activities for the preservation of health, prevention of disease, and protection of the public. Most services are targeted at low income, vulnerable community members who have limited access to preventative and regular health services and health education. NCPHD employees are compassionate, caring professionals dedicated to serving the residents of our counties. NCPHD is located in The Dalles, a small town in rural Oregon. The town is ringed by cherry orchards and wheat fields, with a welcoming multicultural population. Our AmeriCorps members are invited to participate in local events and become part of the community. We offer everything from county fairs and mariachi concerts to wine tastings. Right in our back yard, the Columbia River Gorge region is a place of incredible natural beauty, with access to a multitude of outdoor activities. Hiking, biking, skiing, and kite boarding opportunities are all only moments away. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, The Dalles is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health. The OHA VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a diverse workforce. We encourage candidates from communities of color, disability, LGBTQIA, and linguistically diverse populations to consider application to our positions.
