Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. Outside In is a non-profit, safety-net organization based in Portland, OR. Its purpose is to help low-income individuals, people of color, and vulnerable populations access integrated medical and mental health care and social services. Our focus is to provide programs and remove barriers to accessing care and services throughout the agency. This approach enables us to give more people supports they need to improve their health and well-being, and to become self-sufficient. Outside In helps approximately 11,000 people each year. The agency is a Health Care for the Homeless Federally Qualified Health Center, a licensed Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment Provider, an accredited Alternative School, a School-Based Health Center, a founding member of the Multnomah County Homeless Youth Continuum, and an approved Veterans Affairs Patient-Centered Community Care Program provider. Our patient and client population includes 78% living in poverty, 32% homeless, 35% uninsured, and 35% LGBTQIA+. The OHA VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a diverse workforce to broaden and deepen our work in the communities we serve. We strongly encourage candidates from communities of color, disability, LGBTQIA, and linguistically diverse populations to consider application to our positions. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Portland is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health.
