OHA CARAVAN Rural Health Access VISTA

This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. The Oregon Rural Practice-based Research Network [ORPRN] was established in 2002 at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. Many of ORPRN’s projects are focused on expanding access to quality healthcare for rural populations. CARAVAN is a qualitative and quantitative examination of Congress’ Veterans Affairs MISSION Act on rural veteran’ access to and experience of care. This project works to implement evidence-based interventions to improve primary care quality and access. Another project, SMARTER CRC, supports primary care clinics in implementing population outreach strategies to improve patient access to colorectal cancer screening and follow-up care. Portland is known for the legendary Powell’s Bookstore, its culinary scene, and microbrew industry. The Pacific Ocean, Mt. Hood and acres of national forest are within a two hours’ drive, and within city limits you can find 7,500 acres of park land. Portland has excellent public transportation and is recognized nationally as a bicycle friendly city. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Portland is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health. The OHA VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a diverse workforce to broaden and deepen our work in the communities we serve. We strongly encourage candidates from communities of color, disability, LGBTQIA, and linguistically diverse populations to consider application to our positions.
