OHA Crook County Reaccreditation and Outreach VISTA
 
 
 
This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. Crook County Health Department [CCHD] is located in Prineville, Oregon. CCHD provides clinical services that include reproductive health and communicable disease response; public health preparedness; Women, Infants, and Children [WIC]; Medicaid application assistance; substance use and addictions prevention; mental health promotion and suicide prevention; and chronic disease prevention and self-management. Our services are available to all members of the community, with specific focus on outreach and service to low-income community members. Our department is welcoming, trauma-informed and non-judgmental of individual’s life circumstances, to provide the highest level of care for all. Prineville is a great place to live and features a close-knit community. We are a rural frontier community only an hour from Bend, OR. Outdoor recreational opportunities abound as we are surrounded by hiking and biking trail systems; world-renowned rock climbing; and abundant public lands with access to lakes, mountains, forests and grasslands. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Prineville is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health. Member Duties : You will join a dynamic team of local public health professionals who care deeply about the health and wellbeing of the community. You will: 1) Ensure community members have access to equitable, high quality care by establishing a sustainable team focused on reaccredidation (or ensuring continued credentials of programs); 2) Conduct research to create and adaptat health promotion and outreach materials for populations living in poverty; and 3) Promote “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” classes in Crook County, assess program effectiveness, and secure funding to improve the accessibility and sustainability of this initiative. The member will also have many opportunities to engage in public health exploration and professional development opportunities. We urge you to apply if you are 1) an excellent communicator via verbal, written, and visual mediums, 2) an enthusiastic learner who thrives in a collaborative environments, and 3) bilingual (Spanish/English).
