Program Coordinator - Grand Rapids EnVision Center
 
 
 
Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Grand Rapids Housing Commission’s (GRHC) mission is to provide housing assistance and affordable housing opportunities to lower-income families, the disabled and senior citizens in a manner that is fiscally sound and in ways that support families, neighborhoods and economic self-sufficiency. Under the auspices of GRHC, the Grand Rapids EnVision Center will provide clients with a centralized hub for support in the area of economic empowerment. The VISTA will research and develop innovative strategies to engage clients and partners in a collective manner that will empower low income families to create, build and sustain economic self-sufficiency. The VISTA member will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as research community neighborhood stabilization planning, attend meetings to learn about key issues facing workforce development, research grant and funding opportunities that will support community and economic development, and work with program supervisor to develop a comprehensive one-year action plan.

Member Duties : As an AmeriCorps VISTA member with the Grand Rapids EnVision Center, you will support the EnVision Center goal, “that financial support alone is insufficient to solve the problem of poverty. Intentional and collective efforts across a diverse set of organizations are needed to implement a holistic approach to foster long-lasting self-sufficiency.” (Source: hud.gov/envisioncenters). Major responsibilities will include developing and maintaining partnerships with families and community partners, researching community needs, searching for grant opportunities, participating in community meetings and working closely with the program supervisor in creating a sustainable one-year action plan.
